Unexpected Company

These next two months will be overwhelmingly busy with only a few days at site in-between presenting a training to the newbies joining us in Uganda, being a counselor at Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World), and the holidays! Thanksgiving and Christmas are fast approaching which means soon I will get to see my brother! After Christmas I've got my birthday and then I can finally settle down back in my little tiny home and get busy here. Just thinking about it all makes me exhausted!

2 nights ago I was 'held hostage' by two awesome PCVs and we had a Halloween bash consisting of pumpkin soup, a pumpkin dish where you grab the mashed pumpkin with a chapati (like some Indian/ Ethiopian food), roasted pumpkin seeds, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and watching The Darkest Hour... kind of a lame and horribly acted movie. But it was fun and the power going off just added to the Halloween-y atmosphere.

Last night at my house I organized my many notebooks filled with ideas I would like to implement over the next year and a half (WOW time is flying by)! I stumbled across all of my collected bottle caps and counted them... i was waaaayyyy off on my estimation in my last post! I counted over 600!! Tons of things I can do with those... and they didn't cost me even a bitano aka 500 shillings. It was also the first night I actually used my computer in my house! Even though it only had 50 minutes of battery life left since the power in town was off ALL day... it was still awesome. Welcome back power! I missed you now that I have something for you to charge. Another big thing happened last night.... HUGE in fact... it was the first night I cooked.... without charcoal!! Heck yes gas stove... it only took 3 months! But I cheated and cooked breakfast on my sigiri again... old habits are hard to break I suppose :p

Lastly...today while cleaning my house and having my front door open I had two baby goats pop in and say hello, my supervisors flea infested dog, a chicken, and a cat that wasn't mine. It must be national Animal Curiosity day or something! For lunch Candy made this awesome cucumber and tomato salad with olive oil and seasoning... put that deliciousness in-between two pieces of toasted bread with some mustard and I couldn't stop smiling my tummy/ taste buds were so delighted! And Goatapalooza on my way home geeze! There was frequent goat crossing/ runaways dragging rope attached to their legs. Oh and the little goats hanging out on my stoop... I thought they were eaten so good news: they are obviously alive and ever so adorable! Elend even tried playing with them... he lost.

Watched Glee episodes 3 and 4... ugh... you get me every time Glee...

Sweet cloud formation outside my hotel window. I just want to swim around in them

Palm tree along the Nile

Island of Birds. That is a lot of s*it

For you Mike... doesn't it look like those woodsy people from Zelda?!

Yup. That would be THE Nile River

Sunset over the Nile

View of the Nile in the daytime... a bit cloudy

No explanation needed... the start of the mighty river

Waiting for the booze cruizers to stumble in... while watching the sunset

A 'monument' at the source

Boom! Check this of my list of things to do.

The madness of the old taxi park

This is my fast food and closest thing in Uganda to a drive through....
